asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will define the term "severely injured" in relation to road accident statistics.

The term "severely injured" is not used by the Department to describe road accident severity. The categories used are fatal, serious and slight, and the definition of each of these terms is given on page 37 of "Road Accidents Great Britain 1983", a copy of which is in the Library.
