HC Deb 18 December 1984 vol 70 c107W
30. Mr. Robert Atkins

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what further proposals he has for legislation within industrial relations.

43. Mr. David Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he has any plans to introduce legislation to restrict the right to strike in essential services.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

We have no definite plans for further legislation on industrial relations at this stage. The strike ballot provisions of the Trade Union Act have been in force only since 26 September and the other two parts of that Act will come into effect during 1985. We shall, however, be considering what further steps might usefully be taken both to deal with the special problems of industrial action in essential services and more generally.
