§ 22. Mr. Wareingasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on his meeting with Lady Platt, the chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission, on Tuesday 4 December.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonI met Lady Platt on 4 December to discuss the change from 1 October in the eligibility criteria for the community programme. I explained why we think those long-term unemployed people most in need should have priority for available places on the programme, and I undertook to consider further the concerns which Lady PLatt raised with me.
