Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications for selective financial assistance he has received in (a) the month up to 28 November and (b) the year up to 28 November; and if he will take steps to ensure that all applications will be processed by the end of March 1985.

Mr. Allan Stewart

One hundred and thirty five applications for selective financial assistance for projects in Scotland were received in the month up to 28 November 1984 and 443 in the year to 28 November 1984. Arrangements have been made to have all applications received before 29 November 1984 processed by 29 March 1985.

Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much he has paid out in selective financial assistance to companies in the Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy travel-to-work areas from 1979 onwards; and how many companies have received help.
