§ Mr. Alan ClarkResults from the 1983 labour force survey indicate that in the second quarter of 1983 there were 1,213,000 persons in Great Britain aged 16 to 59 without a job who were looking for work in the week before the survey and had been seeking for more than a year. Of these, 726,000 had no educational or vocational qualifications. The corresponding figures from the 1979 survey were 288,000 and 207,000, respectively. There was no labour force survey in 1974.
