HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 c610W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve are currently estimated to be Catholics; and what proportion this represents of the manpower of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve separately.

Mr. Scott

Although details are not kept of the religious denomination of members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and its Reserve, I understand that about one tenth of the regular force comes from the Catholic community.
