HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 c602W
Mr. Hume

asked the Attorney-General whether, in the light of the inquest findings in the case of Mrs. Norah McCabe and the new evidence which has come to light, he will ask the Director of Public Prosecutions to reopen investigations into the case.

The Attorney-General

No. After the inquest., the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland reconsidered this case in the light of the evidence given at the inquest and the inquest findings and of all the other evidence now available, as described in the answer which my hon. and learned Friend the Solicitor-General gave to the hon. Member for Liverpool, Riverside (Mr. Parry) on 7 December. As a result of that reconsideration, the Director reaffirmed his earlier conclusion that the evidence available did not warrant the institution of proceedings against any person in respect of Mrs. McCabe's death. He has discussed the case with me and I am satisfied that that decision is correct.
