HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 cc644-55W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list by district, within English and Welsh county areas, details of sales of local authority dwellings to sitting tenants up to the latest convenient date; and if he will indicate the local authority housing stock in 1979–80 and the sales for each district as a percentage of that stock.

Mr. Gow

For details of the position in Wales I refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales. The following figures of English authorities' sales to sitting tenants from April 1979 to June 1984 include other council house sales up to March 1980. Since 1979 there have been other changes to the stock through new building and acquisitions and some transfers between authorities. An additional column shows the latest stock figures reported by authorities for 1 April 1984.

Local authority All completed sales to sitting tenants 1 April 1979 to 30 June 1984 Number of council dwellings at 1 April 1979 Number of council dwellings at 1 April 1984 All sales as percentage of dwelling stock at 1 April 1979
