HC Deb 13 December 1984 vol 69 c595W
Mr. Conway

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement about funding in the current year of Short Brothers plc.

Mr. Hurd

Following a review earlier this year of Short Brothers' corporate plan, and taking current market conditions into account, the Government have now authorised an external financing limit of £95 million for the period April 1980 to 31 March 1985. Within this sum the Government have agreed to provide £6.5 million grant assistance this year to enable the company to continue development of its aircraft, aerostructures and missile activities. The assistance will include payments under a launch-aid contract for the SD360 and design, development and training grants.
