HC Deb 13 December 1984 vol 69 cc595-6W
Mr. Maginnis

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will consider allocating to those dairy farmers who, during the last 10 years, have been driven from their holdings close to the frontier with the Irish Republic as a result of terrorist activity a dairy produce quota consistent with their level of production at the time when they were forced to leave their farms.

Dr. Boyson

The European Community regulations make no specific provision for allocation of additional quota to producers who have left border farms as a result of terrorist activity. However, producers in these circumstances who submitted a claim by 21 August 1984 under the exceptional hardship provisions of the United Kingdom Dairy Produce Quotas Regulations 1984 will have their case considered by the independent dairy produce quota tribunal for Northern Ireland.
