§ Mr. MellorThe latest available information is given in the following table; it is not possible to distinguish between those discharged from youth custody establishments and those discharged from local prisons. Of the 1,483 young persons discharged, 444 were discharged in the 13¼ months up to 30 June 1984, and 1,039 (including all those aged under 17) in the following four months after the reduction of the minimum qualifying period for parole.
