(2) what terms and conditions apply to (a) police and (b) fire brigade staff when unable to work, following injuries while at work;
(3) how many assaults there have been on (a) police officers and (b) fire brigade staff in the Greater London area in each of the last five years;
(4) how many (a) police and (b) fire brigade staff have been admitted to hospital inpatient care, following assaults on them, in the Greater London area in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. Giles ShawInformation about assaults on policemen and firemen and subsequent medical treatment is not collected centrally. The conditions of service of police officers are set out in the Police Regulations 1979 (as amended) which provide for a member of a police force486W to receive full pay while on sick leave and for the reimbursement of medical and dental charges. The scheme of conditions of service of the National Joint Council for Local Authorities Fire Brigades, on which my right hon. and learned Friend is not reresented, provides for a member of a fire brigade whose duties include a liability to engage in fire fighting to receive full pay while on sick leave and, at a fire authority's discretion, for the reimbursement of medical and dental charges.
