§ 30. Mr. Sayeedasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations he has received about the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards the United Nations law of the sea convention.
§ Mr. RifkindWe have received representations from a number of Governments, including those of some European and Commonwealth countries, and from various private organisations and individuals in the United Kingdom.
§ 55. Mr. Douglasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the terms and conditions upon which Her Majesty's Government will continue their participation in the development of the United Nation's convention on the law of the sea.
§ Mr. RifkindI draw the attention of the hon. Member to the statement I made during the Adjournment debate on the law of the sea convention last Thursday, 6 December. We remain entitled to be observers at the Preparatory Commission.
