HC Deb 12 December 1984 vol 69 c519W
31. Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the implications for Her Majesty's Government's defence responsibilities in Belize of the presence of United States service men in Honduras.

Mr. Renton

The British presence in Belize is in no way related to the presence of United States service men in the region. British troops are in Belize at the request of the Belizean Government to assist that country in its external defence. They are not involved in any other Central American country.
