HL Deb 12 December 1984 vol 458 c383WA
Baroness Stedman

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the light of the recent appearance of the "Laser Lover-Communicator Road Show" at St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, they will request the Department of Trade and Industry to explain to chief constables what is the purpose of Section 5(3)(f) of the Marine Offences Act 1967 so that they know what action to take.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)

The Director of Public Prosecutions is responsible for the prosecution of offences under this Act and his office is currently awaiting a number of police reports relating to the Laser road shows, including one from the Cambridgeshire Constabulary on the event at St. Ives. There does not at present seem any need for guidance from the Department of Trade and Industry.
