HC Deb 12 December 1984 vol 69 cc487-8W
Mr. Nicholas Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the British Dyslexia Association about training of teachers of those with special learning difficulties; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dunn

In July the British Dyslexia Association submitted proposals for a modular teaching diploma which would offer an additional qualification for teachers working with children with specific learning difficulties. These were carefully considered both within the Department and by Her Majesty's Inspectorate and a reply was sent to the association in October. It is now for the BDA to consider how it wishes to take forward its plans.
