HC Deb 11 December 1984 vol 69 c408W
Mr. Robert C. Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what is the number of movements per annum at United Kingdom ports by merchant trading vessels over 500 gross registered tonnes in the following categories; and whether these are United Kingdom or non-United Kingdom flag: (a) ferries, (b) coastal shipping, (c) one-port traffic, namely, offshore supplies and (d) international, non-ferry.

Mr. David Mitchell

Information on ship movements in the detail requested is not collected centrally. In 1983, arrivals in the United Kingdom of all shipping, excluding yachts, from foreign ports (outside the Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man) numbered 41,000 for United Kingdom registered ships and 54,000 for non-United Kingdom registered ships.
