§ Mr. Donald Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made with tests on Gruinard Island to investigate the feasibility of decontaminating the island.
§ Mr. LeePossible methods of decontaminating affected areas of Gruinard Island, including the question of potential effectiveness and cost, remain under careful review. A further visit was made to the island in July 1984 and initial analysis of the date obtained supports previous encouraging results. However, further work is required before a decision on decontamination can be considered and it is not yet possible to say when that will be.
