HC Deb 07 December 1984 vol 69 c312W
Mr. Geoffrey Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people on mode B youth training schemes are currently employed in psychiatric hospitals; in what capacity; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Morrison

All young people on mode B of the youth training scheme are unemployed trainees. They may spend part of their training period in work placements in a wide variety of establishments, which may include psychiatric hospitals. However, no central records are maintained of the number of placements of this kind which are in use.

Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many (a) male and (b) female young people have completed the youth training schemes in the Hull travel-to-work area, by year, since the inception of the scheme; and if he will indicate those who obtained permanent employment with the employer with whom they trained and of the rest of the number who obtained permanent employment within (i) six months, (ii) 12 months and (iii) are still unemployed following the completion of their training.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Information is not available in the form requested. The number of young people who completed their expected time on the youth training scheme in the county of Humberside between 1 April 984 and 31 October 1984 was 2,585, of whom 1,532 were males and 1,053 were females. Information on the subsequent destination of these young people is not available.
