HC Deb 05 December 1984 vol 69 c212W
Mr. Willie W. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much grain is stored in Glenrothes, Fife; what were the comparable figures for each of the last three years; what is the estimated cost of such storage; and how much is stocked elsewhere in Scotland. and at what cost.

Mr. John MacKay

As at 31 October, stocks of intervention grain held in Scotland totalled 294,000 tonnes, of which 9,900 tonnes were held at Glenrothes. No intervention grain was held in that store in any of the previous three years.

Storage costs are recorded on a UK basis and separate figures for Scotland are not available. The cost of storage at a particular store derives from the contractual terms negotiated between the Intervention Board and the individual storekeeper. This information is commercially confidential.
