Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list all grants made by his Department to voluntary organisations, giving both the recipient and the amount, together with the date a grant was first made.

The grants made to voluntary bodies in the 1983–84 financial year are as follows. The dates on which grants were first made are not readily available, but I will endeavour to supply the information to my hon. Friend in due course.

Additionally, an amount of grant is allocated each year to the deficit funding of more than 300 hostels and similar accommodation schemes, administered by some 200 voluntary organisations, providing places for ex-offenders. In 1983–84 such grants amounted to £3.528 million.

A further allocation is made in respect of once-for-all grants to voluntary organisations providing day facilities and other services for ex-offenders. These grants amounted to £501,356 in 1983–84.
