HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c7W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if, before giving his approval for the return of Falmouth Shiprepair Ltd. to the private sector, he will satisfy himself that the recommended bid is judged on the future of the yard and its work force as much as on the size of the largest offer; and if he will make a statement on the progress of the sale and the likely date of an announcement identifying the new owners.

Mr. Butcher

I can confirm that the future of Falmouth Shiprepair Ltd. and its work force will be taken into account before consent is given to its sale. Negotiations are continuing and I am unable to give a date for the announcement of the new owners.
