HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c29W
31. Mr. Allen McKay

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he plans any changes in the arrangements for privatising British Airways.

Mr. Michael Spicer

No. It remains the Government's intention to sell the airline early in 1985 if possible.

41. Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on progress towards the sale of British Airways.

Mr. Michael Spicer

On 12 December last year my right hon. Friend announced to the House the Government's intention to proceed with the privatisation of British Airways as soon as possible. Subsequently the business of the British Airways board was on 1 April 1984 vested in British Airways plc. With assistance from our advisers and from the airline we are continuing with detailed preparations for a flotation early next year.
