asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will list the further and continuing achievements of the Locate in Scotland unit since his reply of 9 July, Official Report, column 392–3.

Since 9 July, two further overseas owned companies have publicly announced their intentions to establish new projects in Scotland. These companies between them promise Investment of £6.6 million and the prospect of a substantial number of new jobs over the next few years. Locate in Scotland was closely involved in both decisions.

In the period April to June 1984, the first quarter of the financial year, 12 overseas owned companies have committed investment of £325 million to Scotland, with the long term prospect of almost 4,000 jobs, both new and safeguarded.
