§ Mr. Tony Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will issue guidance to local authorities about the security of information passed to them by the police under the provisions of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969.
§ Mr. John PattenLocal authorities are already aware of the need to safeguard information which may be passed on to them by the police and we are not aware there is a need to issue any further guidance. If the hon. Member has a particular case in mind I would be pleased to consider it.
