asked the Secretary of State for Transport what arrangements he made when privatising publicly owned shares in Associated British Ports to ensure that it remains in majority British control.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the profit of Associated British Ports in the financial year immediately preceding privatisation.

In 1982 the then British Transport Docks Board made a net pre-tax profit of £5.5 million.
