HC Deb 30 April 1984 vol 59 c43W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to Iraq concerning that nation's use of chemical weapons following the United Kingdom's endorsement of the declaration of the United Nation's Security Council of 30 March.

Mr.Luce

We have frequently made clear to both sides in the Gulf conflict our position on the use of chemical weapons. Most recently on 5 April Her Majesty's Ambassador in Baghdad drew to the attention of the Iraqi authorities the answer which my right hon. and learned Friend had given the previous day at column579 to the hon. Member for Mid-Worcestershire (Mr. Forth) which reiterated the United Kingdom's condemnation of the use of chemical weapons wherever this occurs.
