HC Deb 27 April 1984 vol 58 c629W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what recent representations he has received opposing cuts by the Liverpool area health authority.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We have replied to three parliamentary questions and a small number of letters from hon. Members relaying the views of individual constituents and from members of the public. The hon. Member and others made further representations in this House during the Adjournment debate on Liverpool health authority's budget on 9 November 1983. The Government have made it clear that there is to be capital expenditure of the order of £30 million in Liverpool to provide effective and efficient services available for the district's population which is reducing in size, while services are being improved elsewhere in the Mersey region so as to reduce the dependence of other districts on Liverpool's services.
