Figures are not available on the volume of wine turned into industrial alcohol, but it might be assumed as a rough guide that alcohol of 86 per cent. volume and over would generally be used for this purpose. Separate figures have therefore been given for such alcohol distilled under Community measures. This breakdown is not available for other distillations undertaken outside these measures, for example by member states on their own account.
