HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c527W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total level of urban aid grant paid to voluntary organisations in 1983–84; how many voluntary projects received grant aid during that period; what is the projected funding of such organisations in 1984–85; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

In 1983–84 allocations totalling £62 million were made in England under the urban programme to some 3,500 voluntary sector projects. On the basis of information currently available for 1984–85 the estimated value of urban programme support for voluntary sector projects is likely to be some £68 million. This reflects our continued support for worthwhile voluntary sector activity.
