HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c527W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total value of urban programme projects designed to benefit ethnic minority groups approved in 1983–84; what percentage increase this figure represents in relation to the level of funding in 1982–83; and what will be the estimated expenditure in this regard by his Department in 1984–85.

Sir George Young

The total value of both newly approved and committed projects of benefit to ethnic minority groups in 1983–84 was at least £27 million. This represents an increase of 80 per cent. over the correspondng figure for 1982–83 (£15 million). On the basis of the information that is available for 1984–85, the estimated value of urban programme support for new and committed projects aimed specifically at ethnic minorities in the current financial year is about £30 million.
