HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c560W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will ensure that financial cutbacks will not restrict the domiciliary oxygen service under the National Health Service.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We are not making any "financial cutbacks" in spending on the National Health Service as a whole. In fact the resources being made available to the National Health Service are increasing in real terms. We are anxious to ensure that whatever new arrangements may be introduced for the future supply of domiciliary oxygen are economically sound and continue to provide an acceptable level of service to patients. We will decide on future arrangements when we have received the advice of Arthur Andersen and Co. and considered it.
