HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c489W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the impact of the coal industry dispute on the Welsh economy.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

Any disruption of supplies is bound to create problems for some users and could hinder production and development in some areas. The impact on the Welsh economy has, however, been limited and sporadic except in the coal industry itself where the dispute could damage the industry's long term prospects.
