§ Mr. Beggsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will seek to amend the Road Traffic Act 1972 so that the type approval can be introduced to Northern Ireland on the same basis as the rest of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Chris PattenNo, a proposal will shortly be published for a draft Order in Council to amend the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 by introducing a national type approval scheme for Northern Ireland along the lines of that which operates in Great Britain under the Road Traffic Act 1972.
