§ Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has now considered the report of the working party on the administration of the Firearms Act 1968; what action he proposes to take in respect of the report's recommendations; and whether he will make the report public.
§ Mr. BrittanI have written to my hon. Friend today in his capacity as chairman of the British Shooting Sports Council to say that I have now approved the working party's report and its recommendations. They have also been endorsed by my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Scotland, and by the two Associations of Chief Police Officers. We shall now write to all chief constables to invite them to adapt their procedures to conform with the recommendations. A copy of the report and of my letter to my hon. Friend is being placed in the Libraries of both Houses. Further copies can be obtained from F4 division of the Home Office.
