That it is expedient that an advisory committee should be appointed by the Home Secretary to examine every application for release from the armed forces for the purpose of contesting a parliamentary election, and to report to the appropriate Service Minister, in each case, whether or not they are satisfied that it is a bona fide application."—[Official Report, 18 February 1963; Vol. 72, c. 203.]I propose that in future the Committee appointed in pursuance of this resolution should also consider appllications for the purpose of contesting European Parliament elections.
