How many applications for grant have been made to date by the National Trust to the National Heritage Memorial Fund, and whether they will state:
- (a) how many of these were successful in attracting grant;
- (b) what percentage of the overall purchase cost was given as a grant by the fund as a result of each successful application; and
- (c) what sum was given as an endowment by the fund to assist the trust to run the land or property as a result of each successful application.
§ Lord SkelmersdaleTwenty of the National Trust's twenty-two formal applications to the National Heritage Memorial Fund for grant-aid have been successful. The National Heritage Memorial Fund Trustees consider grant applications on their merits and are themselves responsible for interpreting priorities under the National Heritage Act 1980. Grants have not yet been paid in all cases, and the exact amounts of some grants are still under negotiation.
Grants given to date are summarised below. Where the purchase price remains confidential, as is frequently the case with property bought by the National Trust under the private treaty procedures, the actual amount of the NHMF grant is shown.
