HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 cc303-4W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether the static tests on the airframe of the Lear Fan 2100 aircraft have now revealed further defects; what effect this will have on the progress of the certification programme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butler

During a recent static test on the fuselage a further defect was identified. The company has implemented the necessary design changes and static testing recommences today, 12 April 1984. This development is expected to delay the certification programme by approximately one month. Type certification is scheduled for the autumn of 1984.
