HC Deb 11 April 1984 vol 58 c211W
Mr. Tom Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received regarding the present dial-a-ride service as operating in the Greater London council area; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

Representations have been made by dial-a-ride operators and users and by organisations representing disabled people, as well as by hon. Members, especially in discussion of the London Regional Transport Bill.

The transport needs of disabled people have concerned me greatly during the Committee stage of this Bill, and I have announced that my Department will fund the setting up and running (for three years) of an expert unit to help establish and develop special transport facilities for disabled people in London.
