HC Deb 10 April 1984 vol 58 c208W
Mr. Yeo

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the time limits for making a claim under the Vaccine Damage Payments Act; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

The Act's time limits for claiming become effective in May 1984. Until then a claim can be made for severe disablement resulting from a vaccination provided it took place on or after 5 July 1948.

From 9 May 1984 a claim must be made within 6 years of one of the following dates:

—the date of vaccination to which the claim relates; or

—the date on which the disabled person attained the age of 2.
