HC Deb 10 April 1984 vol 58 c183W
38. Mr. Douglas

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he next intends to meet representatives of trade unions to discuss the future of the royal dockyards.

Mr. Lee

My right hon. Friend has no such meetings arranged at present. He did, however, hold discussions with local trade union representatives during a vist to Devonport dockyard last week. If proposals arise affecting the future of the royal dockyards, consultations will take place in the normal way. As the hon. Gentleman is aware, I myself last week met him and the hon. Member for Dunfermline, East (Mr. Brown), accompanied by a delegation of trade union convenors from Rosyth dockyard.
