HC Deb 10 April 1984 vol 58 c141W
42. Mr. Bruce

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many reports he has received in the current year of air misses between military aircraft and civil helicopters; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

In the period 1 January to 31 March this year five reports have been filed with the national air traffic services by pilots of civil helicopters relating to sightings of military aircraft in circumstances which justify the submission of an airmiss report.

The reports will be studied by the joint airmiss working group consisting of representatives of civil and military aviation whose task it is to assess the degree of risk inherent in each occurrence and to determine its cause in order to point the way towards possible improvements in flight safety. I have asked to be informed of its findings.
