§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any plans to introduce legislation to amend the Representation of the People Act 1983, in so far as it affects local authority elections.
§ Mr. MellorThe Local Government (Interim Provisions) Bill amends provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1983 which govern local elections. Further amendments will be needed to give effect to the proposals in the Government's White Paper on the Representation of the People Acts (Cmnd. 9140).
