HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c25W
21. Mr. Dicks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the effect on commuter transport in London of the industrial action taken by transport workers on 28 March.

Mr. Ridley

Most Londoners managed to get to work and back, often with difficulty and delay, despite the efforts of the GLC to use both commuters and unions as pawns in their political battles. I applaud the tolerance, good nature and perseverence of the victims of this unnecessary strike.
