asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate by how much the Treasury

"Estimated outturn" figures for 1983–84 were assembled in January prior to publication of the public expenditure White Paper (Cmnd. 9143) and incorporate forecasts for the latter part of the year.

will benefit from his Budget proposals to reduce the maximum sum assured which may be offered by a tax exempt friendly society from £2,000 to £750.

In the first full year the direct revenue yield from the reduction, which is from £2,000, is estimated to be negligible.
