§ Mr. Weetchasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will name the body corporate to which the Britannia building society loaned £340,000 in its special advances section of the AR11 for 1979 that was recently amended.
§ Mr. Ian StewartThe advance of £340,000 was to a body corporate which is not a company. The form of annual return for 1979 did not require identification of a borrower which was a body corporate other than a company. As a general principle I do not think it is in the public interest for Ministers to disclose information which is not required to be placed on public record, such as that which is normally confidential as between a building society and its borrowers.
