Mr. Rooker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, using the same assumptions for 1984–85 for earnings and prices he made in answering on 27 March, Official Report, column 109, regarding income and taxation, he will update his answers of 23 November 1983, Official Report, columns 170–172, and 3 February, Official Report, columns 395–6, to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Perry Barr on tax changes.

The following table shows(a) income tax plus national insurance contributions less child benefit where appropriate as a percentage of gross earnings; and (b) real net earnings after income tax, NIC and child benefit, in index number form with 1978–79 = 100.
