HC Deb 05 April 1984 vol 57 c624W
Mr. Caborn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made with the regulations that will admit part-time local government workers to the local government superannuation scheme; and if he will give a date when he expects to have made a decision on these regulations.

Mr. Waldegrave

As the hon. Member knows, the basic problem with these proposed regulations is the initial cost they would entail for local government expenditure. We have for some time been seeking ways of accommodating this, and will continue in our efforts to find a satisfactory solution. I cannot as yet give a date by which a Government's decision will be announced.
