HC Deb 04 April 1984 vol 57 cc539-40W
Mr. David Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many tonnes of coal from South Africa have been imported into the European Economic Community during the past 12 months; and of that total how many tonnes have been imported (a) into Scotland and (b) into the rest of Great Britain

Mr. Giles Shaw

The European Commission has estimated that Community imports of coal from South Africa were 15.1 million tonnes in 1983. None of the UK's share of 58,000 tonnes, about ⅓ per cent., of this total was imported into Scotland.
