HC Deb 04 April 1984 vol 57 c559W
Mr. Maclean

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will make a statement on paragraphs 26 to 35 inclusive of the Countryside Commission's report, "A Better Future for the Uplands", about rural housing;

(2) if he will make a statement on the recommendations of the Countryside Commission's report, "A Better Future for the Uplands".

Mr. Waldegrave

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave earlier today to the hon. Member for Ross, Cromarty and Skye (Mr. Kennedy). I am conscious of the housing problems of some remote rural areas, and, in our consideration of the report's recommendations we shall take into account lessons learnt in recent experimental projects initiated by the development commission in this field.
